VikkyV - I use Photoshop for the most part, it's great for detailing, applying textures and transforming/editing bits and pieces. I also use Corel Painter for blending colours quickly and adding really ornamental detail (the background here is done entirely in Painter, for example). Pattern Brush and custom Papers are excellent for this kind of thing. I hope this helps.
