I'm guessing your Japanese sumi-e ink brush that you used to create your prize-winning mustache (http://blog.infectious.com/2008/08/mustaches-are-infectious.html) also created this cute little fella?!
a little to minimal for my taste but different then what is in Infectious' catalog, that is a good thing.
Hahaha...mayyybeee....;)
I do a lot of large sumi-e ink paintings too--my Japanese side. :) I love the simplicity of the black ink on white paper and the expression, movement of the brushstrokes. Each one has a specific purpose and it conveys a certain feeling- almost like bold or italics-and you only have one chance to make it happen. I also love the relationship of the ink on paper and ink with water-how they work together, merge, expand.
I actually kinda like the minimalism. Because the head is cropped off I can't really tell what this is tho - is he a panda bear?
Happy Holidays Christine! Thanks for all your submissions!
