Can you share as little bit about the piece and how you conceived of it:
I am not the long winded, “this is where I’m at in my life and this is what this represents and so forth.” More often than not I think to myself “Man aight, I need to make some cool shit, then I stare at some paper and fuckin’ figure it out”. I am obsessed with skulls and women, so that’s normally what tends to come out on paper.
If you were to describe your work to someone who’s never seen it, what would you say?
How do you describe something that should be seen!!?
What’s your creative process when producing a piece of art?
Normally I’m semi-thinking about things while I’m in the shower or working. When I start loosely sketching I keep going until I see something that’s coming together as something I think would be a cool finished piece. As soon as I figure that out I’ll throw it on the light box and ink it right then and there. I’ve found if i don’t kill it right then and there, it will never get done.
Could you share an image of one of your latest sketches?
Sure! Here’s a little somethin’ somethin’ I was foolin’ around with at work.

Would you share some unique things in your workspace that inspire you?
Honestly, I don’t get inspired in my workspace very much. I have lots of art and random images of things taped up in my room. Mainly because I like them, but not to get inspired by. My brain doesn’t work that way. I am inspired by people, creativity and experience. I need to be out and about, watching people, exchanging random ideas with my friends, and seeing random creative shit around the city like graffiti or signage. Then I’ll take all the stuff I’ve seen/said, and translate it, squeezing it out of my fingertips through my pencil onto paper.
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received in response to your work?
Almost any compliment I’ve received is the best compliment because I know many AMAZING artists, and to think that someone whom I respect, has the same respect for my work really blows me away. As well as all of those people who I don’t know that absolutely LOVE my work – it really makes my mind explode into pieces.
What’s the art scene like where you live?
I live in Los Angeles, the art scene here is all over the place. There are so many artists and different types of art. Which kinda good and kinda not, but it’s cool to be around like minded individuals who create things for allllllll sorts of reasons. Whether it be for money, for fame, or just for the sake of making cool shit for people to look at.
What are you really into right now?
I’m into really heavy instrumental metal and surf music. A lot of songs without any words in it and 40’s of Mickeys. Also skulls, religious imagery, women, tattoos, whiskey, hot sauce, things with chile and lime on them (like tacos), rockabilly/psychobilly stuff. You know… stuff that rules. Oh and wiener dogs.
What would be on your quintessential mixtape?
My quintessential mixtape would be SO all over the place it would suck. I like so much junk from all over the music map that its impossible to put it together into one listenable list. Id have to make like at least a 5 disc compilation.
If your art was music, what would it sound like?
Right now if my art was music, it would be some heavy ass instrumental shit you’d hear in an GIANT church that was 1000 years old.
What do you have as your desktop wallpaper?
I have this sexy ass picture of Kat Von D, layin’ down on a couch.
What websites do you check out regularly?
I look at Ffffound, Flickr, and my tumblr dashboard religiously.
What are your vices/guilty pleasures?
Food and booze. They go hand in hand with my friends, because they’re the ones always inviting me to awesome places to eat and drink and I never want to say no. Other guilty pleasures – shitty television, can’t get enough of that Jersey Shore, soooo good.
What’s the first picture you can remember drawing as a child?
It had to be of ninja turtles, if my memory serves me correctly. I was OBSESSED with them for a large portion of my childhood. I remember I used to draw muscles on arms that looked like doughnut twists, that shit cracks me up when I look back at it.
If you were a dinosaur, what kind would you be and why?
I would maybe say a raptor, those things are all over the place, crazy style. They kinda remind me of cholos, totally awesome. Not mega huge and intimidating, but would you get in a fight with one? Helllll no.
What was your last memorable dream?
I ditched my company’s field trip to the skating rink to try my hand at some home burglaries in my new Iron Man suit. Everything was going fine, flying around the city robbing houses like a reverse Santa Claus until I was surprised by a resident who called the cops, and in my attempt to get away, I ran through some wet grass. Well the water messed up the rockets on my feet, so I was people’s backyards to elude the cops to get away. I ended up hiding out with a gay Filipino couple who were watching American Idol until the cops stopped looking for me.
If you had to change careers, what would be next?
I think about this sometimes with the way things are going in the job market. I make t-shirts at a t-shirt company for a living. I guess i could just work like 2 part time jobs doing random stuff and make it work. Sometimes I also think, my dad is a police officer, maybe that? But then I usually chuckle to myself after wards.
What’s your motto?
Its always been: too old to bother, too young to care. But maybe now I should change it to: too old to know better, too young to care…
