Simple retro chic.
Can you tell us about the story behind this photograph:
I was travelling down on a road trip from Vancouver to LA with a couple of friends. It was a wonderful summers day in Santa Monica.
What camera do you use?
A Holga with a glass lens and I always use Fuji Superia film.
What do you love about the Holga?
I love the way the Holga captures colour. It all started on my 30th birthday when I was given one as a present.
How does living in Brighton influence your work?
Living by the sea means there is always amazing light. The place and people are so inspiring – there are so many photo opportunities.
Name three things that you love about Flickr:
Being able to view the world through my contacts, my contacts some of who I now call my friends, the odd photo that makes me LOL!
What Flickr groups would you recommend us checking out?
The world through my eye, Holga, Film is not dead, and Brighton, of course.

lomokev, magic fly paula, Jason Lupi, chemical gdns, insomina, mironabside, sOulsurfing, ambient light are so many more that I could mention!
Who and what are your creative influences?
My Flickr contacts and the everyday world around me. I like to take photos of the ordinary.
What’s the first photo you remember taking?
My friends when I was on an adventure holiday in Wales at around the age of 12.
If your photography was music, what would it sound like?
A mixture of Sigur Rös, Explosions in the Sky and Black Mountain.
What music is rotating on your iPod?
Sigur Rös, Seasick Steve and Kings of Leon.
What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever captured on film?
A snow kangaroo on Brighton beach.
What is your favorite color?
I love any bright catchy colour!
What’s the best compliment you’ve had to your photography?
That my photos are like a dream world.
Can you share three unique things in your work space that inspire you?
My work space is the outdoor so… people, places, clouds, sea, beaches, birds, rust, bikes, anything really.
Who are three photographers/artists whose work you admire?
Cildo Meireles, Rothko and LeRoy Grannis.
What art do you have on your walls?
A photograph from ambient light light:http://www.flickr.com/photos/79427660@N00/ (on Flickr), I have a polaroid wall that consists of lots of personal memories and a couple of my own paintings and photographs.
What are your most treasured possessions?
My collection of cameras! 16 at the latest count!
What are your vices/guilty pleasures?
Chocolate and red wine.
Any advice to other artists/photographers thinking about submitting artwork out there?
Take risks, you’ll never know where it will get you.
If you had to change careers, what would be next?
A full time photographer – I’m a biology teacher!
