Are you a skater? If so, can you share a memorable skate experience with us?
I am. A couple of years ago I decided to stop doing tricks though because they were getting to dangerous for my body. I think a memorable moment was when I first tried to ollie a garage that was about 2.5 meters high. I think that was a downturn in my skate career because after that I started doing bigger higher and more dangerous things. I really miss it… I still just grab my deck to ride to the grocery store or even to work, just to get that feeling of being free back.
If you were to describe your work to someone who’s never seen it, what would you say?
I would describe it like this: it looks a bit cute but the thought behind is serious and a bit negative.
What’s your creative process when producing a piece of art?
Talking to friends helps me out a lot. They always give me ideas just by hanging around and doing goofy stuff together.
Could you share an image of one of your latest sketches?
My sketches are really personal… maybe in a couple years if I am very famous I will bring out a book with some of my sketches :)
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received in response to your work?
I think it was from the best teacher in my school. He said to me: you have graphic designers who can do business type of designs and you have designers who can make more kiddy looking things… you can do both.
What art is hanging on your walls at the moment?
I only like art that is part of the wall.
What are you really into right now?
Buying some brand new Apple products :) I just love to open boxes from Apple.
What websites do you check out regularly?
www.ffffound.com, www.deviantart.com, www.imagespark.com, www.thehundreds.com, www.freshcotton.nl.
What are your vices/guilty pleasures?
Eating pizza in the middle of the night.
What’s the first picture you can remember drawing as a child?
I think it was a drawing of a football player.
If you had to change careers, what would be next?
I think I would start my own clothes store.
