Describe your style in one sentence:
Hand drawn digital.
What’s the name of your Infectious art piece?
Fluid.
Tell us a little bit about the piece and the inspiration behind it.
I am currently really into drawing animals of different descriptions – the idea
was to create a piece which emphasizes the fluid lines and smooth movement of animals.
What are your top three favorite fonts of all time?
Mrs Eaves, Akzidenz and Perla.
What was your first car and what is your dream car?
I don’t drive (I have a scooter license though!)
What car or vehicle would you love to see your art on?
A Lambretta or a Vespa.
Other than on a car, where would you like to see your art?
The MOMA in New York.
You’re moving from the UK to New York in the near future. What inspired the move?
I’ve always absolutely loved New York and think it would be great and inspiring to
live there for at least a few years.
Name three artists whose work you’ve recently seen and loved?
Marian Bantjes, Stefan Sagmeister and M/M Paris.
What’s been the most extreme or unusual reaction to your work?
People often ask me how I create my work and when I say by hand I get quite a lot of people who argue with me over email who don’t believe me.
You proved that you hand draw your artwork by creating your Secret of Drawing!
True! There’s a funny anecdote that happened while filming that video. The cameraman asked me to change my dark blue t-shirt for a white one, because of the lighting. Having change my t-shirt he pulled the white t-shirt asking me to remove my blue t-shirt form underneath and quickly realized I didn’t have it on. I just have a hairy chest and he had pulled my chest hair (which hurt quite a lot!) Think he was more embarrassed than me?
What websites do you look at for inspiration?
ffffound, news today and all my favourite band sites.
What’s your most treasured possession?
My music collection.
If your art was music, what would it sound like?
A melting pot of Interpol, Bjork, Joy Divsion, MF Doom, Eels, Radiohead, The Charlatans, Doves and Sigur Ros… well, I wish!
You’ve said that music and lyrics are one of your main sources of inspiration – what’s your favorite lyric of all time?
Maybe… Love Will Tear Us Apart. I don’t think I can honestly pick one. I’m forever changing my mind about things like that!
What’s your favorite tool: pen, pencil, paintbrush or computer?
Pen and pencil equally.
What was your last sketch?

Name three interesting/bizarre/inspiring things in your studio.
I try and keep my studio as free of clutter as possible! But you can have a peak inside…

A lot of your work is typographical, what inspired the move into drawing animals?
I didn’t want to just be known as the guy who does the twiddly type and had been
planning on doing some animal designs for a while.
What animal do you find most fascinating and why?
Probably the great white shark. They just seem so elegant and deadly at the same time.
If you had to change careers, what would be next?
I’d love to be a movie or music video director.
Are there any upcoming shows or projects you’d like to share?
I’ve some shows coming up this year in Norway, Chicago and London. Check out www.siscottstudio.com for more details.
