Tell us about this piece.
I had never heard of Infectious before entering this contest to tell you the truth. A fellow co-worker sent me the link to the site thinking this was right up my alley. Once I logged on, I saw the incredible work and opportunities offered and just ran on instinct. I guess the inspiration came from thinking of the Mac as a powerful tool, almost a source of creativity. Hence, the glowing apple symbol as a heart.
If you were to describe your work to someone who’s never seen it, what would you say?
How about a corrupt amalgam of toons, comics, and urban decay?
What’s your creative process?
That always depends on the piece and the desired effect. While most of my work is produced in the same way (blue pencil, brush and ink, Mac G5, Aspirin. In that order), I’ve recognized the need to incorporate new techniques in order to approach my work differently. For the coming 2010, I’m preparing for my first gallery showing of mixed media work including sculptures, paintings, and whatever else I can challenge myself with.
Could you share an image of one of your latest sketches?
Absolutely not. Who the heck do you peeps think you are!? Of course, I’m only kidding. I’ve included one of the latest doodles from my sketchbook.

Would you share three things in your workspace that inspire you?
An angel, a devil and a cup of green tea.
What’s the best compliment/most extreme reaction you’ve ever received in response to your work?
“Wow, dude! That piece really blows!”
What’s the art scene like where you live?
New York City, baby!! You walk out of your apartment and poof! There’s an art scene!
What art is hanging on your walls at the moment?
My guitars! I love ’em so. A Make Art Not War print by Shepard Fairey, and a small painting I picked up in the Dominican Republic.
What are you really into right now?
My skinny jeans. However, I just want you to know I’m not like one of those guys that squeeze themselves into their girlfriend’s jeans and look as if they’re ready to pop out and reveal themselves to the world. At least I hope not!
What would be on your quintessential mixtape?
Music is ever changing in my iPod. Right now I’m listening to The National, Interpol, old Larry Levan and Shep Pettibone remixes and some of the latest ideas from jamming with my boy, Sean.
If your art was music, what would it sound like?
Disturbing.
What websites do you check out regularly?
Infectious, of course! I hate to admit it, but I often visit eBay since I’m always shopping for guitar pedals. Also, ObeyGiant, and Candykiller’s site!
What was your last memorable dream?
Ever since I can remember, I’ve always had dreams where I’m sort of flying but not exactly, more like I’m skipping like a rock across a pond. I’m happy to report that finally, I had a dream where I was actually flying and staying in the air, but that was last year. My last dream was two nights ago and it was quite boring.
If you had to change careers, what would be next?
I was actually a preschool teacher at one point. What a disturbing thought. I guess something having to do with kids.
Are there any upcoming shows or projects you’d like to share?
For the first time in my long graphics career I’ll actually have my own site! It’s coming by the end of September.
What’s your motto?
Ahhh, f**kit! Why not?
