Can you share a bit about each piece and how you conceived of it?
The piece with the logs started as a workshop poster we recently made in Buenos Aires. The idea of this workshop was that each student would create his own character using lots of wooden blocks, so on this poster we just made looooooots of characters made of wood with different expressions.
The other design is just a cute squirrel in the forest.
If you were to describe your work to someone who’s never seen it, what would you say?
Our work is full of colors, it’s an imaginary world where you will find lots of cute creatures living in peace. It’s a place with lots of furry and stupid characters that you can’t wait to hug at first sight.
What’s your creative process when producing a piece of art?
We try to work as a group, so in each piece you will find the hand of the team (we are 3 guys). For example, Diego starts an illustration or a character, then he gives it to me to add more detail or some nonsence stuff and then Andres converts the illustration or character into a 3D image.
Would you share three unique things in your workspace that inspire you?
If Andres had a response to this question the answer would be Transformers, Transformers, and then Transformers. But in the studio we have lots of great books most of our favorite artists and some old vintage American illustrations.
What’s the most extreme reaction you’ve ever received in response to your work?
Oh my gooooooooooooooooooooooooood! (It was a girl shouting.)
What’s the art scene like where you live?
I think the art scene here in Buenos Aires is a mix between the LA and the European scenes. Most of the walls are full of graffiti and most of the biggest street artists in the world decided to came to Buenos Aires to paint on the walls. You will also find a great new art exhibition in Argentina every week.
What art is hanging on your walls at the moment?
Right now they are empty, we hung most of our artwork in our new exhibition here in Buenos Aires.
What are you really into right now?
We are answering this interview, and also working on the launch of a new book called The Ark Project plublished by IDN.
What would be on your quintessential mixtape?
A mix between death metal, electronic music, and rock and roll.
If your art was music, what would it sound like?
Like 8bit funny music!
What do you have as your desktop wallpaper?
An animated pixel gif with the 4 horseman running.
What websites do you check out regularly?
We usually check www.toysrevil.blogspot.com and www.vinylpulse.com
What are your vices/guilty pleasures?
Chocolate, coke and ice cream.
What’s the first picture you can remember drawing as a child?
A dinosaur painted on a color paper using a brush and bleach.
What was your last memorable dream?
Last week I dreamed that I went to an art supply store to buy some papers for a new exhibition. 100% real and boring dream.
If you had to change careers, what would be next?
Andres: Transformers designer
Diego: A bird
Martin: Fireman
Are there any upcoming shows or projects you’d like to share?
For the next year we are working on a new exhibition at Gallery1988 SF and we are probably going to have a show in Brazil!
