What’s the name of your Infectious art piece?
The Transition Begins
Tell us a little bit about the piece and the inspiration behind it?
The basic premise is that the personification of time is moving the country into a new way of thinking. That’s what this election is about, or at least it should be. I always loved signs, and they were a part of the design before anything else fell into place.
How do you feel about so many artists in the States rising up and channeling their support of Obama through their art?
It’s really great to see that people are making their voices heard on both sides. Sometimes the rhetoric can get so thick, but the ideals are the important things. Hopefully, an artist can shed some light on them.
What car would you most like to see your Infectious artwork on?
’64 Pontiac Lemans Convertible.
Can you name three unique and inspiring things that surround you in your studio right now?
1. Four Steve Martin vinyls – I’m listening to “Let’s Get Small” right now.
2. No less than three knives – I don’t know why they’re there, but I feel tough.
3. 20 of my favorite CD booklets – what an overlooked art.
What’s currently on rotation on your iPod?
Laura Veirs, Joanna Newsom, Sufjan Stevens, Sigur Rós, Eluvium. I swear, I’m not this indie.
What websites do you look at for inspiration?
Fecal Face,
COLOURlovers and
FFFFound.
What are your vices?
Watching movies, detective stories, learning how to play two-thirds of a song on the guitar.
Are there any upcoming shows or projects you’d like to share?
I’m working on another piece for Infectious, and I’m looking to do some editorial work or better yet, posters.
Any recommendations or advice you’d like to give other artists thinking about submitting out there?
Have fun with the canvas, it’ll give the best results. Also, design for yourself before anything.
