What is a good (preferably free) program to use with the template?

To piggy-back on burbskate’s relevant question, are there any particular themes? As for kaudrim, if you don’t have PS, you can download GIMP for free. It’s not as good as PS, but…well, it’s free.

why cant i open the submission kit?

using a vector software like inkscape or illustrator. eps file is a vector file. mac software natively convert it into a pdf using Preview.

What about us w/o macs-how can we open the file. Paint doesn’t work.

Paint will not open an EPS … you need a vector editing program like Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, or the FREE Inkscape http://www.inkscape.org/

Doesnt matter if you’re on Mac or PC. Acrobat won’t edit an EPS anyway.

dragonHo, absolutely! you can enter with your custom painted ones, but they do need to be transfered and submitted on the template.

Make sure you download one of Burbskate’s files [linked in a comment above] since Inkscapce doesn’t open .eps or .psd files.

I recreated the Mimobot Submission Template in Adobe Illustrator (.ai) format using vector lines for the Mimobot outline and am willing to share it with everyone…but I don’t have a file server to host it for downloading.

Anyone know of a good file sharing service that’s free but doesn’t required people to register before downloading?

@mllattanzi – sendspace doesn’t require anyone to register, and your file stays on the server up to 30 days after it’s been downloaded last time. Sometimes there are download slot issues, but hey, you get what you pay for :P

@gracelee0404 – there’s no limitation on number of designs (though we do ask artists not to flood the voting gallery all at once). Feel free to spread them out over the course of the contest – they tend to do better in voting that way.

Does white count as a color? Usually it doesn’t because it is considered the absence of color. Just want to know if it is counted as one of the eight. Thx!

i think that it depends on HOW you are using white. This is where having the knowledge of printing with spot colors comes in to play.

I think the base of the mimobot is white … but I could be wrong, so techincally, you could use the base color for a color and have 8 OTHER colors on top.

but I’m not an expert… just a guy with a keyboard ;)

I´ve got a question… when I submit a design, in what colormode do I have to use? I submitted mine in RGB because I figured it is going to be used om the website, but for printing you might need another colormode. If I´m worrying too much just let me know…. :)

- also, what do the “days left” under our design stand for? does that mean you can upload more designs till the deadline but each is in voting only for a certain amount of days? (I guess this would mean that there are rounds to go through during the contest?)
