Attention Infectious Operatives. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to design a skin that will conceal the identity of the device underneath it.
We want you to use all visual trickery at your disposal to take an innocuous looking laptop, iPhone or iPod and craft a vinyl skin that will camouflage it's true identity. Channel the phrase "Transformers: Devices in Disguise." No limitation on what facade you dream up. For inspiration refer to Mikey Ion's Monochrome, where he turned an iPhone into a Game Boy. A trompe-l'oeil, if you will.
Remember:- Your design needs to be shown composited on to a laptop, iPhone or iPod.
- Designs will be in voting for 2 weeks.
- Winners are chosen by community voting and Team Infectious.
This is a covert action operation. As always, should you be caught or killed, your Infectious contacts will disavow any knowledge of your actions.
Bang and burn Infectoids. Bang and burn.

@Pixie. Sky’s the limit – doesn’t have to be a device necessarily. Best of luck! |

YES! I am dying to see what Rhys does, personally. I have to wait for some subs to come in to figure out if my idea is in line with the challenge! |

I’m really jazzed for this! I’ve been working away on my design. It’s been a pretty horrible week here and this has been my escape (when I’m able to get in front my monitor!) |

wonder since we are talking about deception, can we have a closed laptop layout? Me got an idea ;) |

|
|
@visheshunni do you mean can you show your design on a closed laptop? If so yes! As long as you can see that it’s a laptop, and it’s not just a rectangle of art, that should be fine. We don’t have any photos of one closed for you to use, but feel free to source/take your own pic and comp it on. |

Experiencing some error while voting. After I click on a heart setting, it keeps bringing me back to the previous piece that I already voted for. |

Is there a limit to how many you can submit? |
created about 2 years ago
|
|
|
@el_square – we’re looking into it – thanks for the heads up! @wicked-poo – no limitation, we just ask that you don’t inundate the voting gallery with lots of submission. The community tends to get overwhelmed and the score tends to reflect that. Feel free to space any submissions out over the course of the contest. Cheers Joey |

@mjau-92 Greg is right we did mention elsewhere that winners will be announced in the am on Thursday February 11th. Would have been helpful to put it on this thread too – sorry about that! Also please note that the contest ended on January 11th, but designs that entered the voting gallery on this last day still have two weeks worth of voting. This means that everyone’s scores were not finalized until January 25th. We then needed to have a team meeting to decide on the winners and now we’re in the middle of prepping for the launch. We try and launch winning art as soon as possible, to keep the excitement going for the community, but it does take a little bit of time to coordinate it all. In general we will launch the winners of any design challenge three – four weeks after the end of the contest. Hope that helps a little. Let us know if you’d like us to clarify anything further. Cheers, |

Huge congrats to Estera Kecek and her winning design Let’s Play! Kudos as well to our runners up Mike Tesch and his Infectious ES, to Greg Koenig and his iAcoustic design and Dennis McNulty and his Supertape Cassette. Huzzah! We saw some mindblowingly clever designs and it was really hard to whittle it down to just 4. So as per Rachel’s suggestion, we wanted to give some special shout outs to some of the other designs that very, very nearly made the final cut… So additional high fives go to: Thanks so much for all who shared their truly imaginative designs with us. We hope you’ll keep sharing your incredible art with us via our Off The Wall challenge and February Free4All |
